Work Experience
Work experience is “a placement on an employer’s premises in which a pupil carries out a particular task or duty, more or less as would an employee, but with an emphasis on the learning aspects of the experience” (DfEE 1996).
Work Experience can only be successful with the valuable support of local employers. EBSI’s role is to co-ordinate the Work Experience programme through liaising with employers and schools to ensure that the process runs efficiently for all partners.
The programme enables young people to spend short periods of time, usually 1 or 2 weeks, in a workplace where they are able to familiarise themselves with the skills and attitudes needed by today’s employers.
